This Privacy Policy explains what information the TXT to SRT Chrome extension ("the Extension", "we", "us") collects, why, and how it is used. TXT to SRT is developed and operated by an independent developer based in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
What the Extension Does
TXT to SRT converts text and subtitle files into the SRT format directly inside your browser. File conversion happens locally on your device — the content of your files is never uploaded to our servers.
Information We Collect
Account email (only when you upgrade to Pro)
When you choose to purchase a paid plan, the Extension asks you to sign in with your Google account using Chrome's built-in identity system (chrome.identity). We request a short-lived OAuth token, which our server verifies directly with Google to obtain your email address. We do not receive or store your Google password, contacts, files, or any other Google account data — only the verified email address, and only after you explicitly click to upgrade.
Payment information
All payments are processed by Dodo Payments, our payment provider and merchant of record. Card numbers, billing addresses, and other payment details are entered directly on Dodo Payments' checkout page and are never seen, transmitted to, or stored by us. Our server only receives your email address, the plan you purchased, and the payment status (succeeded/active) via a signed webhook from Dodo Payments.
Usage data
We collect basic, anonymous usage statistics — such as the number of files converted, whether a conversion completed successfully, and general extension events (install, update) — to operate the free-usage limit and understand how the Extension is used. This data is not linked to file contents and, for free users, is not linked to any personally identifiable information.
What we do not collect
- The content of files you convert
- Your browsing history or the websites you visit
- Your physical location
- Health, financial account, or communications data
How We Use Information
- To verify your identity and activate your paid plan
- To enforce the free-usage limit for non-paying users
- To respond to support requests you send us
- To understand aggregate usage and improve the Extension
Data Storage and Retention
Email addresses and plan/license status are stored in our database for as long as your account remains active, and for a reasonable period afterward for support and record-keeping purposes. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see "Your Rights" below).
Third-Party Services
- Google — for account sign-in verification (OAuth). Governed by Google's own Privacy Policy.
- Dodo Payments — for payment processing as our merchant of record. Governed by Dodo Payments' own Privacy Policy.
- Railway — our hosting provider, which stores our application database.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data (your email address and associated license record) at any time by emailing us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Children
The Extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Security
We use reasonable technical measures (encrypted connections, signed webhooks, verified OAuth tokens) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
